Genomics is the field of research that examines the structure, function, organization, and quantification of the genes collectively in an organism or in other cases an environment. This is accomplished through the collection of genetic material, sequencing, and analysis of those results. Genomes are responsible for the instructions on how to produce proteins, enzymes, and messenger molecules. Understanding how different genomes are utilized under different conditions is an important aspect of genomics. Cases studies are used in teaching modules to help understand how to use the data created during genomic analyses.
